mission

To connect students and early-career professionals to share diverse perspectives

Vision

A future where BC’s forestry community is united through shared learning

A CONFERENCE BUILT BY STUDENTS FOR THE FUTURE

The BC Next Generation Forestry Conference was born out of a shared realization among forestry students across British Columbia: a critical gap in opportunities exists for early-career professionals to connect, debate, and shape the future of our industry outside formal academic settings.

What started as a small idea in a university lounge has grown into a province-wide initiative. We recognized that the challenges facing BC’s forests, from climate change to shifting economic paradigms, require fresh perspectives and collaborative solutions.

Our goal is to bring together the brightest young minds in forestry, provide a platform for open dialogue, and empower the next generation to take an active role in defining the values and practices that will sustain our forests for decades to come.

Our TEAM

We brought together students and emerging professionals from across Canada and around the world, united by a shared interest in the future of forests and natural resource management in British Columbia.
Together, we represent a wide range of fields, including:
  • Indigenous Land Stewardship
  • Forest Resources Management
  • Forest Operations
  • Forest and Natural Areas Management
  • Natural Resources Conservation
  • Bioeconomy Sciences
  • Business Management
  • Geomatics
This diversity strengthen our ability to approach challenges facing BC’s forest from multiple perspectives and reflects the collaborative, interdisciplinary spirit at the heart of the BC Next Generation Forestry Conference.

Our previous work

Your Roman Empire: The Three Pillars of Sustainability was one of our first major initiatives, bringing together students, researchers, and emerging professionals for an evening of thoughtful discussion on the ecological, economic, and social dimensions of forestry. Our team coordinated an expert panel, interactive audience questions, and facilitated breakout discussions on Indigenous leadership, conservation finance, environmental justice, food security, and climate action.

The success of this event helped shape the vision for the BC Next Generation Forestry Conference. Building on that experience, we are expanding the same commitment to thoughtful dialogue, diverse perspectives, and meaningful participation into a larger province-wide gathering for the next generation of forestry leaders.
